When I think about the top 5 herbs that I use most often, ‘Eleuthro’ is right up there! In over 13 years of clinical practice, it never fails to deliver.
We all know its traditional uses and indications as an adaptogen and ‘immunomod’, however I have found that in cases where prolonged stressors have affected a patients’ ability to function optimally due to relentless fatigue and sense of overwhelm (which then leads to a high carb diet with sugar cravings and possible chronic infections), Siberian Ginseng gives a rapid response. The patient can experience a significant increase in energy within 1 to 2 weeks of use. The sugar cravings diminish and they often find it easier to make better food choices. The overwhelm lifts and they can get ‘a handle’ on their daily tasks again.
It is always a good idea to help your patient come up with ways of improving time management and getting better organised with daily tasks and schedules. Leave this to the second consultation. Even talking about ideas for them to get help with basic tasks from other sources to lighten the load and find more time for themselves is greatly beneficial to your overall protocol.
Siberian ginseng is the starting point. Consider using it in a mix with Withania and/or Vervain to assist with better sleep and emotional support.
